Brian Cornelius is a Nurse Anesthesiologist, Deputy Sheriff and Tactical Medicine Instructor with over 25 year’s experience in pre-hospital care, public safety and anesthesia. He has practiced clinically as a paramedic/nurse and nurse anesthesiologist in a variety of environments but primarily trauma, flight and tactical medicine.
Dr. Cornelius holds a Bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas-El Paso, Masters from Florida International University and Doctorate from The University of Alabama-Roll Tide. He practices clinically at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas and is an Assistant Professor at Texas Wesleyan University.
Deputy Cornelius served 8 years as a Deputy Sheriff and Tactical Paramedic with a high volume Special Response Team (SRT) in Northwest Louisiana prior to moving to Texas. He currently serves a Deputy Sheriff and Tactical Paramedic with a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team in the Fort Worth area.
He is certified as a DSHS and TCOLE Instructor. His primary areas of pre-hospital instruction are tactical medicine and critical care transport. He has instructed throughout the state and country for multiple groups including the state/federal law enforcement and the US Military.
