The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy, provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and considerations for conducting drills.
Learning Objectives:
Review the physiologic conditions associated with a stress response such as found during an active killer event.
Discuss events in healthcare facilities and daily and examine the responses of involved parties.
Identify a methodology to respond to active killer events and explore the results of failures in action.
