Sarah Zhang is an associate professor at Nurse Anesthesiology program, University of South Florida. She is also an adjunct associate professor at the DNP program of Nurse Anesthesiology program at Samuel Merritt UniversityCurrently, she has been dividing her time in the operating room, teaching and conducting clinical research in the department of anesthesiology at UCSF. Early in her career, her research focused on stem cell-based therapy in regeneration of cardiac myocytes following acute myocardial infarction. Her current research focuses on pain management in the post-operative setting. She is currently the principal investigator for a double-blinded prospective randomized clinical trial to evaluate the effect of venlafaxine on post-surgical opioid consumption, pain, and function funded by the Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation. Because of her contribution to research, she was recognized as the Researcher of the Year by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists in 2020.
