Prior to nursing, Lauren served as a corporate public relations specialist, during which she produced and managed global, award-winning public relations and communication strategy, including internal communications for 2,500+ employees in more than 15 countries. As a member of the 2023 cohort from Rush University, Lauren leveraged her expertise to develop a comprehensive infection-prevention campaign grounded in evidence-based practice, which targeted the intubation process to minimize cross contamination that can contribute directly to post-operative infections. Prior to Rush, Lauren served as a cardiac intensive care nurse at Duke University Hospital, where she successfully developed and led a multimedia infection-prevention campaign that resulted in the significant decrease of central line-associated bloodstream infections, earning her Duke University Health System's highest honor for nurses as well as selection to The Great 100 Nurses in North Carolina in 2020. In addition to her passion for patient safety, evidence-based practice, and communication strategy, Lauren holds credentials from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement as a Certified Professional in Patient Safety. Lauren earned bachelor's degrees in public relations and political science from the University of Florida and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Duke University.
