Brian Benham is a retired US Army Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) with over 25 years of clinical practice. He received his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Texas Christian University in 2014, his Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia from US Army in 1996, and his Bachelor’s in Nursing from George Mason University in Virginia in 1991. He is prior service enlisted as a Combat Medic with the Infantry in West Germany and Honduras. During his commissioned service has been a NICU nurse in Hawaii, deployed with a medical humanitarian team to Madagascar, served as the sole anesthesia provider on a Forward Surgical Team, deployed as an anesthesia instructor to the Afghan National Army in Kabul, and was didactic instructor in the US Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing at the time of his retirement in 2007. He served as a civilian teaching clinical anesthesia at Brooke Army Medical Center, in San Antonio, Texas, and is currently a Clinical Professor of Nursing Anesthesia for the US Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia nursing.
