The International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists Past, Present and Future: Contributions to Global Anesthesia and Surgical Care (1 Class A CE)

Five billion people in the world do not have access to timely anesthesia and surgical care. Nurse Anesthetists are an answer to the anesthesia manpower gap. The International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists (IFNA) was founded in 1989 and is the global voice for nurse anesthesia. IFNA has collaborated with the multiple international organizations in an effort to effect a positive change on access to care. This presentation explores IFNA efforts to increase the quality and safety of global anesthesia care while exploring collaborative efforts with global organizations to effect change and improve universal health.

  • Identify global organizations with interest in anesthesia care.
  • Summarize IFNA collaborative partners and efforts toward increasing access to anesthesia and surgical care.
