Lack of knowledge and understanding of resilience under extreme stress and its importance within the profession. Marriam-Webster defines resilience as “an ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change”. Understanding and building resilience helps nurse anesthetists manage stressful situations, protect mental health, and improve overall health and wellbeing. This presentation will include robust exchanges of ideas and questions that will benefit all CRNAs and SRNAs.

Learning Objectives:

  • Hear the experiences of a military nurse who served in Vietnam.
  • Discuss the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
  • Describe methodologies for PTSD treatment including initiatives for suicide prevention.
